During the southern summer (November to April), the Pupu Rangi Nature Sanctuary opens its doors to explorers, volunteers, interns, and those interested in sleeping in a tree tent. The next programs start on October 29th, 2018.

To ensure that you can secure a spot, we recommend that you make a booking for the Intern and long term Conservation Volunteer positions at least six months in advance, for a short term Volunteer position and the Explorer program at least two months in advance, and for the Tree Tent Experience at least one month in advance.
To apply for an internship (maximum two places available) or a long term volunteer position (more than three weeks in duration), please email us a motivation letter and a resume to [email protected] We will then invite you to a Skype/WhatsApp interview.
To apply for a short-term Conservation Volunteer position (three weeks or less), please email us your preferred start date and length of stay so we can confirm the availability and fee.

Explorer and Conservation Volunteer Availability Calendar
The Explorer program includes accommodation in the sanctuary (including two nights in a suspended tent from mid-December to the end of March), delicious meals, training, all of of the activities listed in the Explore section, and transfers to/from Whangarei. Programs start every Monday from November to March. The cost for the seven day Explorer Program is NZD 599 / EUR 360 / USD 430 (all taxes included). A NZD 100 deposit (non-refundable) is required to reserve a place in the program. The Tree Tent Experience includes breakfast and accommodation in a spacious suspended tent. Additional meals are available at an extra cost. You may participate in the Volunteer or Explorer activities that are scheduled during your stay.
The cost for a night in the sanctuary (between December and March) starts at NZD 129 / EUR 85 / USD 95 (all taxes included).
Participants in the Volunteer and Explorer programs may upgrade their accommodation to a tree tent based on availability. The cost is NZD 35/night or NZD 199/week.
The Pupu Rangi Nature Sanctuary is a not-for-profit organization and all of the proceeds from this program go towards the funding of the conservation efforts.
